Fraudsters are targeting AP teams with smaller but more frequent attempts in 2026, making it more difficult to mitigate your risks. In recent years, AP teams intentionally avoided spending dollars to chase pennies — only focusing on the bigger fraud risks. But it appears would-be swindlers are exploiting this prioritization strategy.

That’s the biggest takeaway from IOFM’s winter 2025/2026 survey, when compared to a similar survey IOFM conducted last summer.
