Activating a vendor with an old W-9 form

Q. I want to activate an existing vendor in our system, but the W-9 we have on file is the 2011 W-9 form and the signature on the W-9 is old. Do you suggest requesting an updated W-9 to reactivate the vendor?

The Form W-9 doesn't have an expiration date and federal tax regulations don't require your company to solicit a new W-9 form (so long as your company doesn't have knowledge that the information on the form is incorrect), but very many payers…
