Forms W-9 with e-signatures

Q. We don't accept Forms W-9 with e-signatures but occasionally we have a payee who tries to submit one. And we it confirmed during the training held just a couple of weeks ago that it is still the case that W-9s cannot be signed with an e-signature. Also, we are currently relying on IRS Fact Sheet 2021-12 and IRS Advisory Council Report (November 2019, p. 38) when we advise a payee that we c(attached) which appears to authorize electronic submission of W-9s as well as electronic signatures…
