Q. We are a university and we reimbursed one of our student athletes for a $1,000 insurance deductible they paid for medical expenses to a hospital. These medical expenses would have been as a result of being injured while playing in their sport at the University. Usually we would have paid the hospital directly and issued a 1099-MISC for medical expenses. The student athlete paid for this expense via a credit card. Does our University have any obligation to issue a 1099 to the hospital, or…
