Q. Would a hotel payment we made for lodging (the hotel is a partnership) be reported on a 1099-MISC as a rental or 1099-NEC as a service? A. (Answered by IOFM's third-party tax experts) Reportable payments your company makes to a hotel for room rentals are reported as “rent” in Box 1 of Form 1099-MISC.  But payments to the hotel for food and drink, restaurant meals, or room service charges incurred during the room rental period would be included under other forms of compensation for services…
