Grading

Grading Policy

You are informed of your pass/fail results immediately upon submission. We do not reveal the passing score, and we do not reveal individual scores.

Why? The purpose of the exams is to determine if a candidate has or does not have the knowledge necessary to be Certified in Accounts Payable, Procure-to-Pay, Accounts Receivable or Order-to-Cash, according to the standards set by IOFM in the respective Certifications for these professions. It is not the purpose of the exams to assign rank or any other interpretation to the score. Pass/Fail scores were determined using the cut-score process recommended and overseen by The Chauncey Group (now Prometric), recognized experts in testing and assessments.

According to The Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing, developed jointly by the American Educational Research Association (AERA), the American Psychological Association (APA), and the National Council on Measurement in Education (NCME):

"11.15 Test users should be alert to potential misinterpretations of test scores and to possible unintended consequences of test use; users should take steps to minimize or avoid foreseeable misinterpretations and unintended negative consequences." (The Standards, 1999, p. 116)

Understanding Your Exam Analysis

Exam analyses are available for failed exam attempts in select courses. Currently available in the latest versions of AP, AR, P2P, and CPRS Certifications.

The only purpose of exam analyses are to help those who did not pass on their first attempt identify areas in which they can improve. We do not provide exam analyses on successful exam attempts as to not assign rank among those who already achieved proficiency at the level determined by the Certification.

Your exam analysis ranks your performance overall and by chapter on a proficiency scale of 1-5, with 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest. Here is how to interpret your proficiency level by chapter

Level 1: You are considered to have a basic understanding of this material. It's possible that you may have left some questions unanswered because you ran out of time. In any case, you should concentrate on reviewing this material before your next attempt. This may improve your recall time as well, which will help your overall time management on the entire exam. We do not suggest re-attempting the exam immediately as you would benefit from a significant amount of time with the study material.

Level 2: You are emerging in your understanding of this material. You should definitely devote ample time to studying this chapter before your next exam attempt. If you left questions blank, please review the advice in Level 1.

Level 3: You are developing in your understanding of this material. You have demonstrated working knowlege of the concept and skills covered in this material, but you are still inconsistent.

Level 4: You're so close! You have demonstrated that you are competent in this material but not quite at the level to achieve Certification. When thinking of how much time to devote to studying this material, we suggest you evaluate how much time you have left on your enrollment and how you performed on other chapters to see where your time will be best spent - because you're within spitting distance here!

Level 5: You have proficient in this material. This means that you have achieved a level of knowledge and skill that IOFM has determined is deserving of the desired Certification.
