Q. Once a form 1099 has been filed with the IRS and mailed to the vendors, what is the retention period for an actual copy of the 1099-NEC or old 1099-MISC form itself? We currently retain all the information that was reported on the form but is it necessary to be able to produce the original form after it is reported and for how long?  A.
