Q. We have four retail locations that we pay monthly rent to. All their W-9s state they are Partnerships. I have always provided them with a 1099.  Now I am being told by an internal staff member that, from their understanding, if they don't actually own the property but only manage it then I don't have to issue a 1099; so I guess, that is is where my confusion rests.
