1099 reporting to expert witnesses

Q. We have a vendor that performs mental health psychiatric evolutions to see if defendant can stand trial - which we report as medical services on the 1099. But sometimes the vendor is called in to be an expert witness, which involves interviews with the defendant, reviewing the file and writing a report for the attorney.
The expert witness will reject because it is coded as a service GL (nonemployee) and not a medical GL (the courts can have different expert witnesses, not just medical).
