Q. One of the examples on the instructions for the 1099-NEC states that "Payments by attorneys to witnesses or experts in legal adjudication," should be reported on a 1099-NEC, box 1. Does this include expert medical witnesses? A related question: We sometimes have to make payments over $600 to expert witnesses. These expert witnesses are sometimes practicing or retired physicians. Would we report these payments in box 6 of the 1099-MISC because it has to do with their medical expertise or…
