Q. We paid an invoice that was billed to a third party and the invoice was for legal services, so is 1099 reportable. We have instruction from the third party to pay the invoice on their behalf, so my assumption is that this is an assignment of income situation and we would report the payment on a 1099 to the billed third party, not the legal firm we paid on their behalf.
