Q. Is settlement payment to the government 1099 reportable? A. (Answered by IOFM's third-party tax expert) No, a settlement to the government would not be reportable. However, if the settlement money is sent to a law firm as an intermediary, that would be reportable in box 10 of 1099-MISC. 113725
